First and second place for Go2Grill in the Norwegian National Championships Healthy Eating on the Go 2022!
Go2Grill took both first and second place in this year's Norwegian Food on the Go Championship. It was Go2Grill Patricia's street food restaurant in Bardu that was named this year's Norwegian Champion. This year, second place was shared by four Go2Grill restaurants.
About “NM Sunn Mat i farta”
The competition NM Sunn mat i farta (formerly NM i Sunn Fastfood) is organized to honor players who sell and promote food on the go that is both nutritious and tempting, and that contains ingredients we should eat more of. The competition is intended to inspire and help make it easier for people to choose healthier and more nutritious food when they are "on the go". The competition organizers are the Norwegian Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers Association (NFGF), SjømatNorge, the Norwegian Baker and Confectionery Industry Association and the Information Office for Fruit and Vegetables (OFG).
Competition criteria
When the jury assessed the entries, they initially looked at three things. The dish had to contain a combination of coarse grain products, a variety of seafood and fruit/vegetables. In addition, the jury will look at up-selling activities and how the participation is profiled.
Healthier children's menu - for little ones on the go
fv: Adrian Akselsen (Go2Grill Social Office Ballangen) Anne-Lise Sørensen (Patricia's street food Bardu, 1st place), Katherin Hansen (Bjørn's street food Holmestand, 2nd place) and Kjersti Karstensen (Rich Bar Sarpsborg, 2nd place)
Go2Grill chose to participate with an entire children's menu consisting of a fish burger in a thick pita bread, with crispy baked vegetables, a dip cup and a fruit cup. The idea behind the participation was to link it with this year's summer campaign at selected Go2Grill locations. The result was a separate children's menu for little ones on the go! The menu has been prepared and adapted so that it will appeal to children, but is also available in larger portions. Children all over the country have thus been given their own children's menu, which is a good alternative to the more traditional dish children are offered when they are out to eat. The idea has been to inspire the whole family and help make it easier to choose healthier and more nutritious food for young and old. Leon (11 years old) helped with the preparation of the menu. He has drawn the elements such as pita bread, broccoli and of course the fish burger. All children also had the opportunity to draw on the back of the menu, to get the children active and the drawings have been pouring in.
The jury's reasoning
– This year's winner is extremely skilled at upselling healthy products and is particularly keen on offering good alternatives to children, I am very impressed, says jury member and chef, Christer Rødseth. Patricia's fast food restaurant has very good values. Values that reflect the joy of eating for all ages with fantastic ingredients and also has a sense of economy. That children don't eat fish is a myth. When fish and healthy food are served to children in a fun way, the food will be eaten. Seaweed and kelp are an important part of the future and the way Patricia's fast food restaurant integrates it into the food of the young people who will manage our food culture in the future is simply impressive, Rødseth tells Convenience. He is supported by the rest of the jury, which consists of Kjetil Dale Aas from the Norwegian Baker and Confectionery Industry Association and Trude H. Nordli from Seafood Norway.
This year, second place was shared between four Go2Grill restaurants; Go2Grill Sosialkontoret in Ballangen, Go2Grill Bjørns Gatekjøkken in Holmestrand, Go2Grill Rich Bar in Sarpsborg and Go2Grill Fortauskafeen in Bardufoss. These also had “Healthier children's menu - for little people on the go” on the menu.
Congratulations to all the winners for a well-executed campaign and victory in this year's National Championships!
